M1 Accessible Self Catering Property
Lone Oak Access Statement (M1 accessible)
Please contact Sally at Clanville Manor for any more details you may need.
Lone Oak, our ground floor self-catering accommodation, is in a rural setting on our working beef farm. It is situated at the end of our drive and in a field on its own. Collection of the key is from the main farmhouse.
Lone Oak has been assessed as M1 accessible (ideal for guests with limited walking ability). We have a recliner chair and a raiser chair, both electrically operated-please let us know if you need either of these because the electric cables are usually detached to prevent damage.
The doorways are 710mm wide so may be suitable for use with a small wheelchair.
Two steps (200mm each) to the front door plus a 70mm threshold, but more level access from the drive to the back kitchen door and French doors (1250mm wide).
One of the shower rooms in Lone Oak has a step of 180mm into the shower but has two handrails in the shower cubicle. There is also a handrail beside the toilet.
Pre-Arrival:
- We have a comprehensive website www.clanvillemanor.co.uk with photos of all rooms, detailed directions and a map, online availability and booking
- The nearest shops, pubs and restaurants are approximately 2 miles away. The B3153, on which Lone Oak is located, does not have pavements and we cannot recommend walking along it especially in the dark.
- Self-catering guests are encouraged to buy local food, which can be delivered before your stay. Go to www.sfmdirect.co.uk-this carries a wide range of items and prices are competitive. Online supermarket delivery is also possible but we prefer that you time this after your arrival.
- The nearest bus stop is in Clanville about 250m from Lone Oak. Buses run infrequently; routes can planned using the website www.traveline.info before your visit.
- The nearest railway station is Castle Cary, 1 mile away. Taxis are usually available at the station but we can provide details of taxi companies for you to book in advance if required. (Approx £5 fare).
- Assistance dogs can be accommodated if informed at the time of booking.
- A payphone is available in the sitting room of Lone Oak and free calls to the Emergency Services and the owners' phones can be made from this.
- Information can be provided in large print if required. We do not have facilities to prepare documents in Braille.
- Our website www.clanvillemanor.co.uk provides photos of our accommodation and further information about the services we provide.
- You can contact us by telephone, text, e-mail or fax. Please see the 'Contact Information' section of this document below for full details.
Arrival and Car Parking
- Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure to be here to welcome you.
- Lone Oak is available from 3pm on the day of your arrival. Check out on departure is 10am.

- Lone Oak guests should come to the farmhouse on arrival and I shall take you to your accommodation. There is parking for three cars in the drive of Lone Oak and another two on the road outside.
- Smoking is strictly not allowed in any accommodation - there are mains powered linked smoke alarms that will all sound if anyone smokes in any room or tampers with the alarms. Smoking is permitted in the back garden only.

Our spare (slow) laptop is available for you to access your emails, but there is no access to a printer.

Future Plans
We are undertaking a review of the accessibility of our website with a view to using text enlargement buttons. However in most modern internet browsers (Google Chrome, Firefox and more recent versions of Internet Explorer for example) it is easy to 'Zoom In' or 'Increase Size' when viewing our website pages to make them more readable.
Long-term plans include providing a fully disabled self-catering ground floor cottage with level access ensuite shower to a downstairs bedroom plus two upstairs ensuite rooms. We plan to also provide for hearing and visual impairment in this accommodation.
If you require further details or have any comments about the services please let us know.
