Tallet is an old Somerset word meaning hayloft and so the name of this cottage reflects its original purpose.
It was converted from a bakehouse and hayloft in 1995 and today provides very comfortable self catering accommodation.
Many original features have been preserved, including the stone staircase, flagstone flooring, the bakehouse oven door and an inglenook fireplace.
Adjacent to Clanville Manor farmhouse, The Tallet is situated on a working farm. The secluded setting is idyllic and peaceful, but the busy town of Castle Cary is just 2 miles away.
The maximum occupancy is 4 adults and up to 2 children and there are 2 bedrooms:
- Double bedded room with 6 foot wide superking bed [plus cot or small child’s bed if required]
- Children’s room with full sized bunk beds [accommodates 2]
The bathroom has a power shower over a small bath. Perfect for families with young children, the cottage is equipped with stair gates at both the top and bottom of the staircase, along with a cot and high chair.
There is also a cupboard full of children’s toys and board games, a flatscreen LCD television with digital ‘Freeview’ channels and a DVD player. Both cottages have a Sony Bluetooth Wireless Speaker to play your music from your smartphone or tablet.
There is also free – WiFi internet access – available in the Tallet Holiday Cottage.
The kitchen provides all essential modern facilities – it is equipped with a full sized oven and microwave, a dishwasher, a freezer, a kettle and a toaster.
A washing machine and tumble drier are available in the farmhouse utility room, next to The Tallet.
There is a ‘real flame’ oil stove in the inglenook fireplace which provides a cosy way to heat the downstairs, as well as heating the upstairs radiators and hot water. All electricity is included in your rent, plus heating from October to April inclusive.
The back door of the property opens onto a stone terrace and the walled garden is the perfect place to relax in fine weather, with a (fenced) heated swimming pool available in June, July and August. You have your own ‘private’ area of lawn with a picnic table. The large play area is shared with guests staying at Lone Oak cottage who can walk down the farm drive to use it.
