Lone Oak Cottage
This holiday rental property is within easy reach of Bath, Bristol, Glastonbury, Wells, Salisbury and all of the main Somerset attractions.
Lone Oak Cottage is only 2 miles from the busy town of Castle Cary, although the nearest neighbours are about half a mile away!
Named after the oak tree in the field behind, the cottage was built about 50 years ago.
Originally home to Clanville Manor farm's herdsman, the internal accommodation is modern and comfortable.
Guests can walk, have a picnic or play football in the fields behind and to the side of the property - as long as the farm's beef herd are not grazing there!
Accommodation
Lone Oak is fairly plain from the outside, but what it may lack in external character it more than makes up for with spacious internal accommodation.
There are new double glazed windows throughout and most furniture inside the property is new.
The separate living room has a colour television with digital 'Freeview' channels, a video player and a cosy electric fire.
The large kitchen/dining room is fitted with modern equipment [all new] and appliances including:
- Oil-fired Rayburn - runs the central heating
- Electric oven, ceramic hob and microwave
- Dishwasher and fridge freezer
New carpets, curtains, beds, towels and bedding all add to the comfort! A utility room contains a washing machine and dryer.
As this is a bungalow, it is suitable for those with slight disabilities [Level M1 in English Tourism Council grading].
There are 3 bedrooms, a double [with 5 foot bed], a double [with 4 foot 6 bed and patio doors to the back garden] and a twin [with two 3 foot beds].
The shower room includes a large power shower with thermostatic temperature control.
Furnishing and equipment are to the same 4 star standard as - The Tallet Holiday Cottage
Food and Drink
We encourage you to buy local food when you are staying at The Tallet or in Lone Oak Cottage. Before your visit you may like to order food from our local Farmers Market site - www.sfmdirect.co.uk - this carries a very wide range of items and the prices are competitive.
Usual latest order time via the Farmer's Market website is 8am on Tuesday morning for delivery on Thursday but this may vary at Christmas and Easter so please check at the time of ordering, especially if you are buying perishable items. If you put a note to indicate that you will be staying at Clanville Manor, they will deliver to the farmhouse and we shall make sure that it is ready in your fridge or freezer for your arrival.
We shall lay a tray of tea and homemade cake for your arrival, and there will also be a small selection of local foods or drink for you to try, depending on the season.
In Castle Cary there are good quality butchers, delicatessens and shops including a wonderful store selling home-made dishes and treats to take away - give the cook a holiday too!
Further variety is provided by the 2 Chinese take aways, 2 fish and chip shops, a Thai restaurant and other pubs and restaurants within the locality.
